While Jasmine garners numerous positive reviews, some patrons note that the restaurant can get quite busy. This sometimes leads to a longer wait for food during peak times, particularly on weekends and holidays. Limited seating capacity can also be a concern, as walk-in diners may face difficulty finding a table without a reservation. Additionally, a few diners have mentioned that the restaurant's Cantonese-style dishes appear slightly localized, differing from their expectations of traditional Hong Kong cuisine. This variation may not suit everyone’s palate. Lastly, while the prices are reasonable, some customers feel that certain items could be more generously portioned, particularly when dining in groups.
I love Chinese food and I’ve eaten it all over the world and I can honestly say that this place is in my top 3. The food was absolutely out of this world, the service was second to none, with extremely attentive and good natured staff and while the restaurant is quite small, it’s tastefully decorated, modern and most importantly spotlessly clean. I only wish I didn’t live 6 hours away or I’d eat here every week 🤣.
I ordered a prawn curry and rice my girlfriend had chicken and cashew nuts takeaway, they all arrived hot and tasty. We were on a holiday break so we decided to have a treat and not cook on the last night of our holiday. Would highly recommend this place.
Was craving Chinese food during our roadtrip in Scotland and so glad to find this gem. Cantonese-style cooking but it has been localised so don't expect authentic Hong Kong style here. Me and my husband were the only Asians when we visited for dinner on a Saturday (Easter weekend). Called about half hour ahead to book a table. Owner was very friendly, offered chopsticks and more rice! I assume since we were Chinese, the owner did caveat to us that the sweet and sour pork was made with char siew meat, not the usual pork butt. Which was helpful to set our expectations!
2024 UPDATE: Arrived unnanounced on a Saturday, carry out was busy, restaurant was also very busy. Asked for a table for three, only to be told I needed a booking, there was a bit of discussion between three staff members and they accommodated us after shuffling some tables about despite being obviously busy. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. Apologising (unnecessarily)in advance that our food may take a little longer coming from the kitchen, the waitress was great to deal with. Deep fried seaweed as a shared starter, 3 mains, 3 sides, 3 non alcoholic drinks, 2 desserts was £60.00. Service was excellent, staff were very efficient and friendly and smiled a lot. They made us feel very comfortable despite the extra load we created by just bouncing in the door. The food was excellent, the service was excellent and the bill was not at all expensive. Decent crockery, cutlery, and cloth napkins (important none the less) rounded off this very pleasant visit. Would highly recommend a visit here. Booking a table in advance would be wise... 😌 NB: Their Fillet of Beef is amazing.. oh, and try the Seaweed..
Found this place after a bit of research while looking for somewhere to have dinner - thanks to google maps we ended up in here, vest Chinese meal for a while and wonderful staff Will definitely be back next we are Dumbarton
I had a bad experience with Chinese cuisine last year and have struggled eating it since but I had no problem wolfing into the food from here. The egg fried rice is just to light and fluffy and the satay sauce was amazing! Also called a few time for delivery now and service has been very efficient and quick each time.
We found this little gem by chance and it is now on our list of good places to eat! The ambiance in relaxed, the setting is casual and the staff are helpful and non-intrusive. It is a busy little place and everyone is welcome. The food is great and reasonably priced. The menu consists of typical western- orientated dishes and the staff are happy to amend according to taste. Our party of three paid £36 for 3 dishes and sides from the main menu excluding drinks.
